A Word from Coach Watts

Thanks to all the parents and volunteers who helped at the Triathlon and the Shark Meat and Developmental Meet all in the same weekend. Thanks to the Pipers who really stepped up and pulled off one of the best triathlons yet. Thanks to Bart and Cindy for running the Shark Meat without Coach Mike and myself. The way the meet went and as good as everybody swam, maybe I should stay away more often. Thanks also to Coaches Rob and Whitney for stepping up and taking all the Black and Gold swimmers. When I think about all the great parents, new and seasoned, I know our team is in good hands and the future looks bright for the Sharks. Black and Gold parents, thanks for stepping up.

I would like to welcome three new swimmers to the Black group, Trisha Maddy comes over from the Berlin Y White group and Muuddal and Yusuf Kadibhai who are from Africa.

Saturday, November 2nd is a big day. We will have our Shark Meat #2, then the Swim-a-Thon, then a Shark picnic at the water park for the whole family. Sounds like a lot of fun. Please support the Swim-a-Thon by getting pledges for each lap. Parents, you can swim also. Get your packet from Coach Watts. The money raised will come right back to us. First we will buy a touch pad system from Colorado to use at all our meets including our developmental meets. Won't that be exciting to have use of our score board whenever we need it. Secondly, we will purchase a backup heating system so our water always stays 80 degrees even when a cold front comes through. Please go out and get those pledges. We will all benefit.

News from ESJ

Pre-Team: The Pre-team is off to a wonderful start. We have many new swimmers on our team and everyone is doing super!!! Welcome our new pre-team swimmers: Myles, Nadia, Kaeley, Carolina, Andrea, Ian, Mackenzie, Maddison and Jansen -- we are so glad that you are swimming with us! We have been working on our freestyle and backstroke (staying on our back until we touch the wall is always a challenge) and our breaststroke and butterfly are coming along. Some of the pre-team swimmers swam at the first Shark Meat. Congratulations to Krstin, Shannon, Shelby and Katherine!!! You all did a super job and your times were awesome!!! Good luck to all our pre-team swimmers who will be swimming at the Ocala Meet. Look for information about our pizza party on October 30 -- I can't wait!!! Parents, any questions or concerns, let me know.

NOVICE: The Novice team continues to improve each week. The swimmers who are in the "wanna be" group have made tremendous improvements (these swimmers swim with Novice and on their "off" days swim with Silver!). It was a lot of fun to watch you swim at the Shark Meat! Our Novice team is growing by leaps and bounds!!! I had 20 swimmers with me on Friday (the most I've had in months). Welcome all new Novice swimmers: Courtney, Michele, Andrew, Dalton, Alexandra, Eden, Kyle, Amanda, Alli, Korey and Kara. We are working on all of our strokes and building up our strength and endurance. Keep up the great work!!! I hope to see you all at the developmental meets and more of you will be moving into the "wanna be" group in the future! Parents, any questions, comments or concerns, let me know.

WHITE TEAM: The White team is WONDERFUL!!! I have such a great time coaching this team. We are working on improving our strokes, building our endurance and having fun!!! Your times at the first Shark Meat were super (we will practice staying on our back until we touch the wall on the backstroke!). I can't wait to watch you all swim at the Ocala Meet!!! Practices are wonderful with so many swimmers there (28 swimmers in 3 lanes can get a little squishy at times!). I hope that everyone (or at least most of you) can make it to the canoeing and camping trip on October 12. Don't forget to look for information about the pizza party on October 30 and no practice on October 31. Parents, any questions, comments or concerns, let me know.

Swim fast and have fun,
Coach Whitney

Silver News

Hello everyone! We had an incredible meet on Saturday, October 5th. The kids swam like the wind and we have some newer swimmers with new best times. Kudos go out to Maria and John for showing up and doing their best. I was very proud of their performance. As for everyone else, we had best times across the board. Congratulations on another fantastic meet.

We're still working hard on building our endurance, along with stroke drills and turns practice. We have a little time before we compete in our next meet. I expect to see some really good times as the hard work continues. As for upcoming meets, we have three kids representing the Silver Team at the Central Florida Martins meet in Ocala. Good luck to Bailey, Tobie and Holly! The rest of us will be gearing up for Shark Meat #2 on November 2nd.

Let's keep working hard and having fun. I'll be seeing you all on the pool deck.

All the Best, Coach Rob

Having once decided to achieve a certain task, achieve it at all costs of tedium and distaste. The gain in selfconfidence of having accomplished a tiresome labor is immense. - Thomas Arnold Bennett
