News from Coach Rob

Hello Again Everyone!

It is getting to be an exciting time around the pool. It's getting dark sooner and there's been a wee nip in the air. There's something about finishing practice in the dark and on cool nights that reminds me of the season we're in. IT'S "B CHAMPIONSHIP" SEASON! It will be held in Naples on December 14th and it's our most important meet.....EVER. If you have not returned your meet forms, please do so ASAP. I would like to have as many swimmers at that meet as possible. More information is on the way.

The annual Turkey Meet is just around the corner. I look forward to seeing many of the swimmers compete in their first big meet. We will be working hard the next couple of weeks to get ready for this one. Starts and turns are most important. Strokes are gettingbetter every practice. Keep up the good work and keep attendance high.

For the week of Thanksgiving we will be having practive on Monday thru Wednesday only. Have a great holiday and enjoy the long weekend.

As December approaches, I get nearer to my brief seasonal departure. Many of you know that I go on a brief break through the month of December in order to help my wife with the Sailor Circus. I will be at the December 14th meet in Naples, but I will not be at practices. Please try and maintain good attendance. The swimmers will be in good hands in my absence, so stick with it until my return in January.

Welcome Wanna-be's. Keep working hard and you will become a Finally-is!

All the Best,
Coach Rob

Most of our obstacles would melt away if, instead of cowering before them, we should make up our minds to walk boldly through them.

Meet Manager's Report

We have a tremendous amount of exciting things happening to kick off the holiday season. The Tom Harrington Memorial Meet is here and it’s a big test to how successful we will be in the coming year. The “older” parents will be busy with High School States and it will be a challenge for the “younger” parents. We all have busy lives, whether you are a doctor, lawyer, landscaper or a homemaker. But we all have our swimmers in common. The athletes depend on each and every person pulling their own share, so let us all pitch in and help out!

I would live to say to a group of people: Jane, Nicole and Claudia, your efforts are to be applauded for our first annual Christmas Parade Float. I am sure it takes a huge effort to make this happen and what a thrill it will be to see the Sharks invade this new territory. Way to go ladies!!!

For those of you who haven’t noticed, this meet, formerly known as the Turkey Meet, the board decided by unanimous vote to rename it the Tom Harrington Memorial Meet. This gentlemen was a member of the Shark family who passed unexpectedly. Lets all take a moment to reflect on this and remember that life is fragile and extremely precious and to enjoy the moment, the time and our surroundings. With that being said, I look forward to this first big meet of the year and we will see you then.

Thank you,
Bart McCoy - Meet Manager

News from ESJ

Parents: Thanks for all of your support!! Any questions, comments or concerns please let me know. As the weather is getting cooler please make sure that your swimmer is dry and has something to cover their head and feet before leaving the pool deck. I would like for everyone to stay as healthy as possible this winter season! Also, if you plan on swimming in the "B" Championship meet in Naples on December 14 please let me know by November 21. Thanks!!!

PRE-TEAM
The pre-team has been working very hard, improving their strokes and times. We had a few pre-team swimmers at the Swim-a-thon-- great job girls!!!! We had a wonderful time at our Fall Pizza Party on October 30!! The food was great! We have some pre-team swimmers who will be swimming at the Turkey Meet and the "B" Championship meet in Naples. I can't wait to watch you all race!!! Keep up the super work Pre-team!!!

NOVICE
The Novice team continues to improve with every practice. I was really impressed with everyone's' swims at the last developmental meet. Free, back and breaststroke looked awesome!!! I couldn't believe how much you all improved. And the complaining on Fridays is getting better too!!! I don't hear "I'm tired" or "I can't do this" nearly as much as I used to!!! Keep up the great work Novice!

WHITE
The White team is wonderful!! We are up to 29 swimmers and we manage wonderfully in 3 lanes (Coach Watts keeps offering us space in his pool but it's cold!). We are having a great time making friends, learning how to read a pace clock and working on our strokes! Congratulations to new White team members: Shanon Collins, Jackson Linn, Kaeley Timmel and Andrea Ward. We are very happy to have you swimming with us!! Great job at the swim-a-thon, Shark Meat and Developmental meet. I can't wait to watch the white team swim at the Turkey Meet and the "B" Championship in Naples. Keep swimming!!!

Swim fast and have fun,
Coach Whitney
